Current Projects

Aggregation Facility:  The HCGA is reviewing several locations to use as a central aggregation/distribution facility in downtown Brooksville to facilitate grower participation in the Brooksville Main Street Farmers Market, county wide CSA, and wholesale distribution.

Education and Outreach:  The HCGA is developing partnerships with the Hernando County Extension Office, City of Brooksville, Florida Organic Growers, Florida Department of Agriculture, Florida Department of Elder Affairs, Farmers Market Coalition, South West Florida Water Management District, Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Hernando County Health Department and other organizations to provide nutrition, technical, and educational assistance to growers and consumers through on-farm workshops and hosted events.

Giving:  The HCGA aggregates and distributes surplus fresh produce (salable and fresh only) to local charities and food banks on behalf of growers.  Participating growers receive a tax deductible donation receipt for produce contributed to the program.

Fundraising:  The HCGA is hosting the monthly "Brooksville Bike Rally and Cruise-In" fundraising event to fulfill a desire by the City of Brooksville to increase visitors to downtown, providing a boost in business to local restaurants, resulting in an increase in local produce being utilized in our community.  Sponsorship and vendor fees will provide operational funding to the HCGA to support our combined marketing and promotional efforts for local growers.
